“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the single candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”
This week Soul Analyse would like to provoke some thoughts about the individual footprint we each have on the world; we’re not talking about our carbon footprint, or how we might impact the world physically, what we are discussing is how you alone have the power to make huge changes in the world that will leave a lasting effect.
People tend to look at the world in two ways – they either feel that there are lots wrong with it and it’s unsafe, or they know that they can singlehandedly make it a better place.
Perspective is everything; whichever stance you take influences whether you contribute to the planet, or create further negativity within it.
The question isn’t whether you believe you can make a change, the question is whether you are willing to. Are you willing to use that light within you, the light that stirs in your soul that wants to be more loving, kind and grateful, to brighten the world?
Here are some ideas that might help you become the change you wish to see in the world:
Stop Believing Humans Own the World
Dalai Lama once said, “Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.” If we all understood these words, the devastating impacts made by human activity would cease to exist.
The more we connect with our soul, the more we understand that humans are one species alongside many other that share residency in a place we call the Earth. It’s not a human’s world, by any means; the intelligence that is found in creatures, such as ants and pigs, and the enormity of the ocean, and not forgetting the crucial role bees play in pollination, make the planet a very powerful place, with or without the human species.
Believing we own the world is one of the biggest mistakes mankind ever made; war, inhumane acts, environmental issues, all happen because of a belief that humans possess a superiority in the world.
Just being aware of the fact that no one is superior on this planet – we are all here with the same importance, will help you to implement this attitude into your way of life. It is this very principle that drives love and kindness throughout the world.
Do More, Speak Less
We all have a role to play in how much negativity is found in the world; simply engaging in negative conversation contributes to a society filled with pessimism, discord and gossip. The pessimistic view that the world is a bad place and that it can’t be helped, is part of the problem faced today. And you’ll find that the ones complaining, are usually the ones implementing little change.
Many, many people complain about “the state of the world” but the reality is that complaining is ineffective; it achieves nothing but further negativity. The ones who are giving to the world, tend to speak much less. Be the latter. Be peaceful and giving, and become part of the solution. Actively contribute to making the planet better by having faith in humanity, promoting peace and seeing all of the goodness that exists all around us.
Shine Your Light
Realise that you are here to offer the world something different, and you are unique in your own right. More importantly, realise that you are a rare soul; there isn’t another person on this planet who shares the same soul as you.
Know that through everyone you meet, you have shared something – be it wisdom, perspective or kindness, as a result of your presence, and others have learned from you. Be mindful of what you’re teaching.
Ultimately, to leave an impactful, positive imprint on the world, we must give what we see to be lacking; if you think the world needs more love, be more loving. If the world needs more compassion, be compassionate.
You singlehandedly have the power to make the world a better place. Be the change you wish to see.
