Ed Sheeran, who is arguably one of the world’s greatest artists out there right now, is putting down the mic and choosing instead to give something back. The singer/song-writer is planning to give a large amount of his time to the Sue Ryder charity shop in his hometown Suffolk, England.
The charity supports people with disabilities and life-shortening diseases, while also offering support to families and carers. One of the main fundraising streams for the charity is secondhand shops, which sell donated goods. 24-year-old Sheeran, is planning to work behind the tills at the Suffolk store for a month to raise money for local causes.
Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the charity’s manager, Jacqui Bell, sounded convinced, “There’s a good possibility he will volunteer here. We’d welcome him. My volunteers, who are aged between 61 and 91, know Ed because he was brought up in the town.
“They would be fine working with him.”
Sheeran, who is no stranger to giving to charity, has also purchased an old police station in the area and plans on turning it into a local youth club.
We think it’s great that Ed Sheeran has remembered his roots and, more importantly, he wants to give back. Perhaps we could all take a little inspiration from him!
